About THE 50 LIST
During a chillaxing 2014 Easter break at Coolum Beach (Queensland, Australia), and just months away from my 49th birthday, The 50 List was pledged. My aim was to create a list of 50 things I most wanted to do during the 12 months leading up to my 50th birthday in July 2015.
Immediately, I put pen to paper and the ideas flowed freely, resulting in a long list of luxurious indulgences. But inevitably, the list was uninspiring. It wasn't clever, it wasn't creative and it certainly wasn't something I felt the need to publish online.
Over the coming days, with a clear head and a change of mindset, I took the time to rewrite the list. I figured that to create a credible and worthwhile list, the tasks needed to be validated in some way. Ultimately, my choices needed to be achieved on a lesser $budget, be more about personal challenges, life experiences, self-education and light-hearted fun, and undoubtedly be things I'd choose to do if I had only a year to live.
The 50 List evolved into a year-long lifebook of 50 meaningful, offbeat and somewhat curious tasks and challenges to be undertaken during the 12 months leading up to my 50th birthday in July 2015.
Inspired by The Bucket List, Julie and Julia and 101 Things To Do Before You Die, this is my very own personal life-list; an ideal alternative to a midlife crisis.
